Sunday (28/5/2023), the XVI Ikatan Mahasiswa Geodesi Indonesia (IMGI) National Conference took place offline at Lt. 5 New Dean Building, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, attended by delegates from 9 agencies, BPH IMGI, and Banwas. This activity is an annual routine agenda organized by the 2023 Geodesy Engineering HM Public Relations Division and the Indonesian Geodesy Student Association to discuss IMGI AD/ART as a constitutional basis for IMGI going forward and elect the Secretary-General for the next period. IMGI itself is an organization that accommodates all student delegations in the Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering field throughout Indonesia. The activity will take place from 27 to 28 May 2023.
The activity was opened with remarks from the Head of the Undip Geodetic Engineering Department, Dr. LM Sabri, ST, MT. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between PTN and PTS, providing Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering Education. The hope is that students will not only compete with each other, but what is more important is that students and alums can differentiate themselves. He says differentiation means that every PT (Higher Education) alumnus must have a characteristic. For example, ITB Geodetic Engineering alums are experts in the deformation field. ITS Geomatics Engineering alums are experts in the marine field. UGM Geodesy Engineering alums are experts in the field of GIS. UNDIP Geodesy Engineering alums are experts in terrestrial and cadastral surveys. With this differentiation, Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering will take on a wider role.
The activity lasted for two days. The agenda for the first day was the AD/ART discussion session led by the presidium from the three delegates present. The second day’s schedule continued with the election and inauguration of the IMGI Secretary General for the 2023/2024 period, namely Jagur Ganesha Setiaki from the Delegation of Geodetic Engineering at Diponegoro University. Jagur Ganesha Setiaki said that the IMGI National Conference is a friendly forum between IMGI members who come from various regions in Indonesia.
As the elected Secretary General, Jagur is determined to strengthen relations between delegations and prepare legality for IMGI in his future leadership period. “For my target, I also want to legalize the IMGI itself so that IMGI becomes a legal entity organization.” Apart from that, Jaguar hopes that later from the results of this National Conference, IMGI can further develop internally and externally and disseminate knowledge related to Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering to the general public.
