Yogyakarta, April 24, 2025
Ahead of the inauguration ceremony of Prof. Dr. Ir. Harintaka, S.T., M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng. as a Professor in the field of Photogrammetry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), lecturers from the Department of Geodetic Engineering at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) took the opportunity to visit the Undergraduate Geomatics Engineering Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY).
This visit was particularly special as it was led by Dr. L. M. Sabri, S.T., M.T., Head of the Geodetic Engineering Department at UNDIP. He was accompanied by several faculty members, including Dr. Yudo Prasetyo, S.T., M.T. (former Head of the Study Program), Arief Laela Nugraha, S.T., M.Eng. (Coordinator of the Hydrography Laboratory), and Nurhadi Bashit, S.T., M.Eng. (Coordinator of the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Laboratory).
The UNDIP team was warmly welcomed by Oktavia Dewi Alfiani, S.T., M.T., a lecturer at UPNVY’s Geomatics Engineering Program. On this occasion, she elaborated on the development and strategic positioning of the program, which is currently the youngest in the UPNVY academic community. This situation closely resembles that of UNDIP’s Undergraduate Geodetic Engineering Program, which has now been established for 21 years. Ms. Oktavia also highlighted the strong geological and mining-related context present in the teaching and learning process at UPNVY’s Geomatics Engineering Program. This benchmarking visit was a positive and fruitful moment, underscoring the importance of maintaining diverse characteristics among geodesy and geomatics programs across Indonesia, which in turn allows for greater inter-institutional synergy.
As a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024, the UNDIP Department of Geodetic Engineering offered to expand collaboration in education, research, and community service involving both faculty members and students. One concrete form of this cooperation is an invitation to UPNVY students to join UNDIP’s Geodetic Engineering Capstone Project in Kendal and Jepara Regencies in the upcoming odd semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
In addition, Arief Laela Nugraha, S.T., M.Eng. invited UPNVY students to participate in the Hydrographic Survey practicum, which is regularly held in Jepara Regency. On another note, Nurhadi Bashit, S.T., M.Eng. encouraged UPNVY lecturers to contribute as authors or reviewers for Jurnal Elipsoida—a scientific journal published by UNDIP that is currently accredited as SINTA 4.
